BYD’s updated Yuan Plus promises 630 kilometres of range and a full charge in under ten minutes, at a price that puts many European rivals to shame.

BYD has launched the third generation of the Yuan Plus, and this time the upgrade is substantial.

The car, sold as the Atto 3 in Europe and the United Kingdom, now features the Blade Battery 2.0 and BYD’s new Flash Charging technology.

That means a range of up to 630 kilometres and charging from 10 to 70 percent in just five minutes.

According to Electrek

A mass-market car with flagship technology

The Yuan Plus is one of BYD’s best-selling electric vehicles. In 2025 it was the world’s 13th best-selling electric car, with close to 224,000 deliveries.

For the third generation, BYD has chosen to bring the same core upgrades to its mass-market model that until now have only appeared on more expensive models such as the Denza Z9 GT and the Yangwang U7.

The car is available in four variants with two battery sizes: 57.5 kWh or 68.5 kWh. The smaller pack offers up to 540 kilometres (CLTC), while the larger pack extends that to 630 kilometres. Both versions come with Flash Charging as standard.

Five minutes is all it takes

With Flash Charging technology, the Yuan Plus can charge from 10 to 70 percent in around five minutes.

A fuller charge from 10 to 97 percent takes just nine minutes. The battery also performs well in cold weather: at minus 30 degrees, it takes only three additional minutes to charge from 20 to 97 percent.

The rear-mounted motor delivers either 268 hp (200 kW) or 321 hp (240 kW) depending on the variant. For an extra 12,000 yuan, roughly 13,500 Danish kroner, buyers can upgrade to BYD’s God’s Eye B driver assistance system, which includes LiDAR, 30 cameras and sensors, and automatic parking.

Interior upgrades and a competitive market

The interior has been updated with a 15.6-inch central infotainment display, a smaller instrument cluster, a built-in refrigerator, a head-up display, AI voice control, and new foldable rear seats.

BYD is counting on the improved specifications to maintain momentum in a Chinese market where rivals such as the Geely Galaxy E5 and Changan Deepal S05 are pushing hard.

The Yuan Plus launches in China now with a starting price of 119,900 yuan, equivalent to approximately 127,000 Danish kroner. BYD has confirmed that Flash Charging and the other upgrades will also reach Europe and other international markets later this year, with the Atto 3 expected to follow.
