International diplomacy often resembles a high-stakes poker game, with world leaders carefully guarding their cards.

While major powers seek to reshape global security through grand summits, some players would rather overturn the table altogether. Now, a powerful figure has delivered a blunt reality check, reports Kyiv Post.

A firm rejection

One of the world’s most isolated nations is slamming the door on any future weapons negotiations. According to the Korean Central News Agency, the country has declared its status as a nuclear power to be completely non-negotiable.

The hardline response came directly from Kim Yo Jong, the sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. She spoke out after American officials claimed that US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping pushed for denuclearization during a meeting in Beijing.

Kim quickly blasted the American account, calling the report an “absurd fake” and false information. External opinions mean nothing to her government.

An undeniable reality

The regime refuses to let foreign powers dictate its safety choices. “We make it clear that we will not discuss the issue of our sovereignty and security with anyone,” Kim asserted.

She added that nobody needs to approve of their weapons cache. “Our country’s status as a nuclear state is an absolutely irrefutable, undeniable reality, independent of anyone’s recognition, and no rhetoric from external forces will change this in any way,” she said, according to the Kyiv Post.

The country has even embedded its military ambitions into its laws. Kim stated, “The course toward constantly strengthening our nuclear deterrence forces is an irreversible, final decision of our country, which must be implemented unconditionally,”

Backed by Moscow

Analysts believe the fierce language is timed to give the country leverage before a visit from the Chinese president. But this newfound confidence also stems from a massive economic boost from Russia.

The isolated state has sent troops and missiles to help Russia fight Ukraine. It paid off. South Korean researchers found this military boom triggered a record economic growth rate of 3.7 percent.

Western intelligence shows that Moscow paid over $600 million for the help, along with providing fuel and sensitive technology. This cash injection has allowed the regime to make up to 20 nuclear warheads every year.
