Following its merger with Skydance, Paramount has officially launched Paramount Games Studio, a unified division consolidating Skydance Interactive and Skydance New Media.
Entertainment giant Paramount is officially making a massive push into the interactive entertainment space. Capitalizing on a major corporate restructuring following its merger with Skydance Media, the company has announced the formation of Paramount Games Studio, a unified division designed to bring top-tier game development in-house.
Merging Skydance and Paramount IP
The newly formed studio consolidates the company’s existing gaming outfits, specifically bringing together Skydance Interactive (known for The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners) and Skydance New Media under one cohesive banner. The division will be led by President Tony Driscoll, an industry veteran with previous leadership experience at Epic Games and Warner Bros.
Rather than strictly licensing out its massive portfolio of film and television intellectual property to third-party developers—a strategy Hollywood has traditionally relied upon—Paramount Games Studio will focus on developing original and franchise games internally. The studio’s initial slate is already robust, encompassing highly anticipated in-development titles such as Amy Hennig’s Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra and an upcoming Star Wars project, alongside a newly announced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin action-adventure game developed in partnership with PlatinumGames.
Making gaming a core pillar
The launch of the studio represents a fundamental shift in how the entertainment conglomerate views the video game industry. With gaming IP powering some of the largest entertainment franchises of the modern era, Paramount is positioning interactive media alongside its traditional cinematic output.
According to statements reported by Game Developer and Gematsu, Driscoll emphasized this strategic pivot, noting that the company no longer views games as merely an extension of its business. Instead, Paramount Games Studio is intended to serve as a “core pillar” of the company’s overarching content strategy, sitting squarely alongside its film, television, and streaming divisions to drive long-term growth and fan engagement.
