Finding the perfect gift for a parent is a tricky task.

Brands constantly offer helpful suggestions as the big day approaches. Sometimes, however, those carefully planned marketing campaigns completely miss the mark with their audience.

A sweet suggestion

Meghan Markle recently shared a new promotional message ahead of Father’s Day. The Duchess of Sussex sent a digital newsletter to customers of her brand, As Ever.

The email focused on creating a relaxing morning experience. According to Express, the message suggested treating fathers to breakfast in bed.

“Whether you need a simple way to say ‘thank you’ to Dad or simply want to create a comforting morning moment, breakfast in bed is the perfect treat,” the newsletter read. The suggested tray featured a buttery croissant, salted butter, and fresh fruit.

“Breakfast served bedside with a warm smile and a loving hug is a simple way to remind those we love how special they are,” Meghan wrote.

Missing the mark

The delicate menu quickly caught the attention of royal watchers. Critics jumped on social media platform X to mock the light pastry breakfast.

Many users argued that the fruit and jam combination felt completely out of touch. They felt it ignored what men actually want to eat.

One prominent royal commentator called the promotional email a terrible idea. They stated that the spread “reeks and screams woman, not man.”

The same critical account added that the “vast majority of the male population has zero interest in her slop.” Other internet users echoed that harsh sentiment online.

A harsh reaction

The online backlash featured blunt reviews from regular wives. Some partners found the lifestyle concept completely laughable.

“If I put that in front of my husband, he would laugh and say what this s*** is,” one social media user wrote.

Another commenter detailed what a proper feast should look like. They noted their husband prefers scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns, and pancakes.

A different person simply questioned the intended target audience. They asked, “Wait, that is supposed to be breakfast for a man?”

This reception is a stark contrast to previous celebrations. Last year, the Duchess shared a simple video of Prince Harry, calling him “our favourite guy.”
