Big international sporting events always run on strict traditions and carefully rehearsed ceremonies.
When those carefully planned moments collide with unpredictable politicians, the results can easily become a massive global spectacle. One famous broadcaster is now begging a family member to step in before disaster strikes.
Breaking massive traditions
Rumours are currently swirling around the upcoming 2026 World Cup final at MetLife Stadium.
Widespread reports suggest that FIFA might completely change protocol and actually allow Donald Trump to hand over the famous golden trophy.
This move breaks entirely from standard tournament traditions.
The American leader previously appeared on stage to present the Club World Cup trophy, where he awkwardly lingered around Chelsea captain Reece James as the team celebrated.
Outspoken British presenter Piers Morgan recently shared his thoughts on the developing situation during a chat with talkSPORT. He initially laughed off the bizarre prospect of the politician stealing the spotlight from the winning players.
A magnificent disaster
The television host imagined a wildly chaotic scene involving the English national team.
He joked about the president literally fighting star striker Harry Kane for the ultimate prize on the world stage.
“I think it will be hugely popular if England were to win the trophy, if Trump wrestled the World Cup off Harry Kane and began to do a little conga,” Morgan told talkSPORT reporters according to HITC.
“I think everyone in England would share my view that that would be absolutely magnificent! No! I think it’s got the potential to be quite embarrassing,” the presenter quickly clarified to the radio station.
Relying on the son
Morgan believes the American politician already knows exactly how people reacted to his previous football appearance. “I think that Trump is quite savvy about the reaction to what happened with the Club World Cup championship,” he noted via talkSPORT.
Even so, the veteran broadcaster has a highly specific backup plan in mind. He wants Barron Trump to actively intervene and guide his father through the delicate sporting ceremony.
The youngest Trump child is reportedly a massive football fanatic. Morgan pointed out that Barron actually supports Arsenal and truly understands the underlying culture of the beautiful game.
“If he’s not, his son Barron loves football. He’s actually an Arsenal fan. I think he will quietly have a word with the old man and say, ‘Look, Dad, should you get the trophy anywhere near you, don’t try and grab it!'” Morgan explained to the sports network.
