Donald Trump announced on Truth Social that he had made a deal where the US would receive up to 300,000 tons of beef that would be turned into ground beef and sold at a lower price in stores for the next month and a half.

That deal was reached in a timely manner as the price of beef has risen nearly $1.50 since he took office in January 2025.

Trump boasts that the plan to import beef would “substantially lower the price of ground beef for working American families.” He also falsely blamed former President Joe Biden for the rising prices.

The big question remains where Trump is getting all that beef from and what type of beef he is importing. Trump will not say and his head of the Agriculture Department is also mum on the subject.

When pressed by a reporter about which countries the beef is coming from, Trump refused to answer. “I don’t want to say,” Trump responded to the question.

Likewise, his Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins also declined to get into more specifics, claiming that she “was not privy to talk about that” during a press conference outside the White House.

Democrats and Republicans are furious

This deal has caused a revolt among both Democratic and Republican legislators. Republicans are arguing that this tariff-free deal made by Trump is merely a “quick fix” and will not solve the soaring prices in the long run.

Both Democrats and Republicans argue that this deal undercuts American ranchers whose livelihoods depend on the steady income of selling beef to consumers.

“President Trump is right to make lowering grocery costs for American families a priority,” United States Representative Kat Cammack wrote on social media. “I share his commitment to bringing those costs down. At the same time, short-term relief can’t come at the expense of American ranchers, free markets and long-term solutions.”

There will soon be cheaper ground beef in stores across America for a limited period, but the packets will not disclose where it came from.
