Lara Trump recently offered a rare glimpse into her father-in-law’s private routine. During a Sunday appearance on the Planet Tyrus podcast, she detailed the punishing hours the president keeps.
The conversation originally started with her own struggles to balance family life and constant travel. She admitted to rushing to airports at the last minute just to squeeze in morning moments with her kids.
That frantic pace cuts directly into her rest. “Now, the truth is, for me, the thing that generally suffers the most is probably my time sleeping,” she told the podcast host according to the Irish Star.
Running on empty
She acknowledged that health experts call sleep foundational. But she noted she shares a specific trait with the president.
“I truly probably do not sleep enough,” she continued. “But I actually kind of find that I’m a little like the president. He sleeps maybe three or four hours a night.”
She admitted that she needs more shut-eye to function properly. Even so, she suggested some people can simply get by with less rest.

Viewers quickly noticed the 80-year-old president resting his eyes while Dr. Oz was speaking. The video clip spread rapidly on X, racking up views and comments.

Users did not hold back. “It’s lights out time for Trump,” one person wrote.
Another user joked that someone was clearly ready for a nap, begging him to at least finish the event first.
A third commenter pointed out the irony, given the president’s favourite campaign attack line. They noted the projection was crazy because “sleepy Joe actually ran the country,” referencing his famous nickname for Joe Biden.
