Social media users did not hold back their harsh criticism.

Public health campaigns usually rely on careful messaging and spotless role models.

Government officials spend months polishing their talking points to convince citizens to change their daily habits.

But sometimes, a single off-the-cuff remark can completely derail the entire official narrative.

A surprising morning menu

Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. recently launched a YouTube channel to promote better eating habits. The digital broadcast, named The Real Food Show, aims to teach everyday families how to cook highly nutritious meals for under five dollars.

The project aligns closely with his broad political mandate to make the country healthy again. During a recent episode focusing on a cheap chickpea salad, the conversation suddenly shifted to morning routines.

The top health official then revealed a rather heavy start to his day. “Sometimes I do intermittent fasting, so I skip breakfast,” he explained on the broadcast acoording to The Irish Star.

An unexpected combination

Fasting is a popular wellness trend, but his alternative option raised some immediate eyebrows. “When I eat breakfast, I eat a lot of protein. This morning I had a cheeseburger and 3 eggs… and I made them into an omelet,” he added.

His television co-host, Daphne Oz, reacted with visible surprise to the heavy meat meal choice. “Are you serious? My son would go bananas; this is his dream. He would eat a burger for every meal,” she replied.

The strange admission completely ignored the fiber-packed vegetable recipe they were actually meant to be cooking. Baffled viewers quickly took to the internet. They shared their utter confusion over a national health leader promoting heavy beef at dawn.

The internet reacts

Social media users did not hold back their harsh criticism. Observers mocked the bizarre pivot from budget-friendly vegetables to expensive morning beef, noting the stark contrast in messaging.

One commenter took aim at the broader political spectacle surrounding the current administration. “Evidently, ‘Draining the swamp’ meant giving top government officials reality TV shows, podcasts, game shows, government TikTok accounts, & book tours,” the user wrote.

Others openly questioned the economic reality of the meal. “That’s most people’s grocery money for the week now. Plus, where are you finding safe beef?” another person replied online.

This latest controversy just adds to the ongoing public scrutiny of the secretary’s highly unconventional personal dietary habits. Earlier reports have highlighted his past admissions regarding the consumption of roadkill.
