Trump did not hold back when sharing his thoughts on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
According to the Express, the former president spoke directly with GB News following the couple’s move back to Britain with their two young children.
When asked how he would handle Prince Harry’s return, Trump admitted he would take a much harsher stance than the current monarch. “He’s a much better person than I am,” Trump stated regarding King Charles.
The US leader made it clear that he would have closed the door on any reconciliation. “I would not have taken him back. Too much hate. Too many really bad things said,” Trump explained during the television interview.
Strong words spoken
He placed much of the blame for the royal rift on Meghan Markle. Express reported that Trump criticized her impact on the prince, claiming, “What she’s done to him is unacceptable.”
He also took aim at Harry’s published memoir. He asserted that “[Harry] wrote a book that was so bad, and [Meghan] was a horrible influence on him.”
Trump continued his critique by accusing the couple of showing “great disrespect” toward the British monarchy. “I didn’t like the way she acted. I thought she was terribly disrespectful to the Queen, to King Charles,” he added.
Praise for Charles
Despite his sharp words for the Sussexes, Trump expressed deep admiration for King Charles. He noted that the monarch is “fighting through a very tough situation with his health,” as reported by Express.
He applauded the king’s resilience during his ongoing cancer treatment. “Very few people would have that bravery to do what he’s done,” Trump observed.
The president confirmed he still considers the king “fantastic,” contrasting Charles’s patience with his own uncompromising style. Meanwhile, Harry and Meghan are settling into life back in the UK with their children, Archie and Lilibet.
