Hunter Biden has embarked on a major media blitz this year. The son of former President Joe Biden has made frequent stops across various shows and podcasts.
He explained that he is using the high-profile platform created during his recent legal troubles to help others. According to the Irish Star, he wants to reach the millions of Americans battling substance abuse.
“There’s 50 million Americans that are still sick and suffering every day from addiction, and I get to go out there, and I get to speak to them,” Biden said.
He added that even reaching a single person makes his public appearances worthwhile. “Even if it’s one person that sends me a message any day, that says, ‘I saw your message, and I didn’t drink today,’ then I’ve done something that I think is incredibly worthy,” he noted.
A surprising suggestion
The media tour took an unexpected turn during a recent radio broadcast. Biden sat down with John Catsimatidis, a billionaire supermarket mogul who hosts the WABC show Cats Roundtable.
When the conversation turned to future elections, Biden offered a surprising response to his host. “If I get your endorsement, I may have to,” Biden joked when discussing the 2028 presidential cycle.
He then shared his primary standard for anyone leading the nation. “Here is my qualification for becoming president, if you believe in the Constitution of the United States of America that you swear to uphold and protect,” he stated. “I want the next president to commit to one thing: to adhere to the rule of law.”
Focusing on recovery
Despite the banter, Biden insists he has no real intention of running. On Real Time with Bill Maher, he used humor to shut down political chatter. “No, I haven’t,” Biden told Maher. “Here’s my thing: if I announce for president, then somebody should check and see if I relapsed.”
He also praised existing Democratic figures, pointing out that the party possesses an incredible lineup of talent. “I love Gavin Newsom, personally,” he noted.
For now, the former first son remains focused on advocacy rather than an official campaign. He plans to continue sharing his story with recovery communities across the country.
