More trouble for the disgraced former hip-hop mogul who is serving a 50 month sentence.
Attorneys for Sean Combs want out of the “Diddy” business.
According to court filings reported by HuffPost, partner Michael Tremonte filed a motion on Monday to drop the jailed mogul as a client.
Money Money Money
The law firm, Sher Tremonte LLP, claimed Combs owes substantial unpaid legal fees. Tremonte noted in the motion Diddy has not made a payment to the firm since late 2025 and has avoided direct communication with them for over four months.
The filing arrived in Combs’ ongoing defamation lawsuit against Nexstar Media, Ariel Mitchell, and Courtney Burgess, in which he claims they made an erroneous statement about his parties, where they said on television that he mixed baby oil and drugs.
Diddy is also suing Burgess for alleging that Diddy possesses videos of him raping and assaulting other celebrities as well as minors. He categorically denies those claims.
Money Ain’t a Problem
Diddy is claiming that the law firm is taking advantage of him and overcharging him because of his status.
“I made the decision to switch lawyers because I won’t let anyone take advantage of me by overcharging me and running up bills that were never approved. This is strictly a business matter, and any talk about unpaid fees is just part of our dispute over those unapproved charges,” Combs told HuffPost through his spokesperson.
The law firm quickly rejected those allegations in a statement to Rolling Stone. “As stated in our court filings, we are withdrawing from representing him because he has not paid his long-overdue invoices and has become uncooperative. Any suggestion that we overcharged him is simply false,” Tremonte said.
If You Want This Money
This is far from the first instance of Diddy stiffing someone he hired. For years, he had hired a documentary crew to film him, but apparently he refused to pay them.
Rob Shuter, his former publicist, says that he never signed a contract or even thought about paying the crew. “Diddy never paid the videographer, and he never had a signed contract,” he writes in his blog.
It was not just this crew that was not getting paid. “He always had photographers and video crews trailing him — everywhere, all the time — but because he was cheap, he refused to do formal contracts,” Shuter claims.
Eventually his archenemy Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson got his hands on the footage and made the documentary Sean Combs: The Reckoning and sold it to Netflix.
(Not) Coming Home
This is just the latest problem for the disgraced former media mogul. He is currently serving a 50-month sentence at Fort Dix in New Jersey after being convicted on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution.
While there have long been rumors of Diddy being a perpetrator, his real legal troubles exploded in November 2023, when ex-girlfriend Casandra “Cassie” Ventura filed a lawsuit accusing him of rape and domestic abuse. While Diddy chose to settle that lawsuit after damning testimonies, it sparked dozens of subsequent civil claims from other accusers.
