Trump faces brutal reality check after claiming he knows “more about everything than anybody”

Trump frequently claims to possess more expertise than actual professionals.

When politicians talk about the economy, they usually try to strike a sympathetic tone.

The goal is to acknowledge the daily struggles of working families.

But one prominent leader took an entirely different approach this weekend by simply crowning himself the ultimate financial expert.

The ultimate expert

Donald Trump visited Ohio to rally support for Republican midterm candidates. During his speech, he made a staggering claim about his economic knowledge, according to The Irish Star

“I know more about inflation, I know more about everything than anybody in this room,” the 80-year-old president told the crowd. “Anybody anywhere in the world.”

He then singled out a woman in the audience. “Well, there’s a woman sitting right over there. She’s a housewife, but she’s very good. She got a natural instinct for business. She perhaps knows more than I do, but I actually don’t think so,” he added.

Policies and prices

Economists often warn that his main financial proposals could actually drive prices higher. His plan to place sweeping tariffs on imported goods acts like a tax that consumers pay at the checkout line.

His boasting also clashes with recent statements. When asked in June if rising costs worried him, his answer baffled many. “No, I love it. I love the inflation,” he said.

Trump frequently claims to possess more expertise than actual professionals. Over the years, he has declared himself smarter than military generals, scientists, and seasoned Wall Street bankers.

Online backlash

Critics on social media quickly tore into the speech. One user on X called him the “inflation king,” while another pointed out the climbing national debt.

“The President of the United States is announcing to the world that he knows more than anybody in the world. We are all so sick of this guy,” one critic wrote.

Some supporters brushed off the remarks as a harmless joke. But a recent survey suggests the American public is not laughing.

A brutal poll

CNN data analyst Harry Enten highlighted a Marquette Law School poll that delivered brutal news. Enten noted that Trump hit a net approval rating on inflation of minus 61 points.

“This is literally the worst net approval rating on inflation for any president,” Enten said. The survey revealed that 64 percent of voters believe Trump’s policies push prices higher, while only 18 percent think he brings them down.
