The former White House press secretary is going to appear on Trump’s favorite network.
Karoline Leavitt announced back in August that she was stepping down as the White House Press Secretary.
She reasoned that she needed to be more present for her family, especially after she was on maternity leave with her newborn child.
That maternity leave seems to be over as she just got a new gig with a Trump-friendly news network.
Leavitt joins Fox News
Yesterday, Fox News announced that Karoline Leavitt will appear as an on-air contributor in November just in time for the midterm election.
“Karoline’s firsthand experience in the White House and on the presidential campaign trail gives her a distinct understanding of today’s political landscape,” said the network’s CEO, Suzanne Scott, according to ABC News Australia.
Leavitt is the latest in a long pipeline of people working for the Trump administration going to Fox News or vice versa. For example, Kayleigh McEnany made the same journey from being Trump’s press secretary to on-air personality back in 2021.
Will she be ‘Fair and Balanced’?
Fox News has long had the tagline “Fair and Balanced,” even though there has been systematic evidence of the news network being partisan for the Republican Party and the MAGA movement in particular since 2016.
Therefore, it is also a pertinent question to ask if Leavitt will bring biased commentary to her new job considering her standing within the Trump administration and the current stand-off between Trump and CNN, Politico, and MS NOW, which he is trying to ban from covering him at the White House.
The hire of Leavitt can also be seen as an olive branch from Fox to Trump as he continues to criticize his favorite news network more and more. Just this weekend, he went on Truth Social to complain about Fox News’s premier morning program.
“Sad to see that Fox & Friends (Sunday) is not covering our packed house and incredibly enthusiastic (beyond!) rally that took place in Ohio last night, or the ones in Alabama, Texas, or Oklahoma over the past two days […] Remember, Fox tried this act once before, and almost went out of business (and always right before an election!). That can happen again!” Trump wrote.
