Trump refuses to give up on trying to ban three news outlets even though he keeps losing in court.

Donald Trump first banned CNN, MS Now, and Politico from covering him and the White House about a month ago.

Since then, Trump has had to reinstate them into the White House press pool because he keeps losing lawsuits over the ban, which a judge has now called unlawful due to the American constitution.

However, that does not stop Trump and his administration from trying once again to make the ban permanent.

Standing by the door

Trump simply wants another round in court. On Wednesday, the Justice Department filed an appeal to the Washington, D.C., Circuit on his behalf after he once again lost the right to ban the three news outlets two days ago.

It all started when Trump announced on Truth Social that he was barring the three news networks from the White House, which he called a part of the “Fake News Media.” The ban did not last long, as the newsrooms had filed a successful joint lawsuit. They argued that the sudden ban stripped them of vital access to cover the president without legal grounds.

U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly handled the emergency request. In an ironic twist for the White House, Kelly was appointed by Trump himself. Just ninety minutes before an earlier temporary restraining order was set to expire on Tuesday night, the judge granted a preliminary injunction that protects the reporters.

Judge Kelly did not mince words in his written opinion. He determined that the journalists “are likely to succeed not only on their due process claim, but also on their two First Amendment claims,” according to Deadline.

The reaction from the administration was to once again try to appeal the decision. A White House official called the judicial decision “misguided” and claimed that the judge went too far.

“The Fake News has no place demanding a spot in the President’s Oval Office. The lies they smear are a disservice to the American public and tear at the very fabric of our Democracy. They’re completely capable of reporting from directly outside,” the official stated.
