Trader Joe’s has issued a recall for one of its ready-to-eat salads due to an undeclared allergen.

According to an announcement on the company’s website, the recall affects Trader Joe’s Sesame Miso Salad with Salmon, with use-by dates of April 28 and April 29, 2025.

The issue stems from a packaging error—some salads were mistakenly packed with parmesan cheese crumbles instead of the intended crispy onion topping. As a result, milk, a common allergen, is present in the product but not listed on the label.

Only 500 units are affected, but they were sold at Trader Joe’s locations across 18 states: Alabama, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Carolina, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Wisconsin.

What You Should Do

Customers who purchased the affected salad should check their refrigerators immediately.

If you have one, do not eat it. Instead, return it to any Trader Joe’s store for a full refund.

People with milk allergies are at risk of serious reactions, including anaphylaxis, a potentially life-threatening condition.

If you or someone else has consumed the salad and begins experiencing symptoms such as hives, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, dizziness, or throat tightness, seek emergency medical help or call 911 right away.

For further questions about the recall, customers are encouraged to contact Trader Joe’s customer service.
