Cucumbers and cucumber-containing items sold at Walmart, Kroger, and other major retailers are being pulled from shelves.

A growing number of cucumber products are being recalled across the United States due to concerns over Salmonella contamination, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
As of today, the outbreak has already caused 26 reported illnesses, including nine hospitalizations.
The recall includes whole cucumbers, sushi rolls, made-to-order sandwiches, and marinated salads sold at major retailers like Walmart, Kroger, Food Lion, and their affiliated stores.
Where Were the Recalled Cucumbers Sold?
Walmart stores in 29 states and territories, including Florida, Texas, New York, Illinois, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Washington, D.C., were among those that sold the affected whole cucumbers.

Kroger has issued recalls for multiple sushi products containing cucumbers, sold between April 29 and May 14, 2025. This includes California rolls, vegetarian rolls, and sushi combos and platters.
Additionally, marinated cucumber salads were recalled from Kroger stores in Kentucky, Ohio, Virginia, and West Virginia. These were sold in 16 oz, 36 oz, and 5 lb containers with sell-by dates from May 11 through May 26, 2025.
Some of these salads were also distributed at Food Lion locations and regional grocery chains in North Carolina and Virginia.
What to Do If You Bought One of These Products
Consumers are urged to check their refrigerators immediately. If you find any of the listed cucumber products, do not eat them. Instead, dispose of them right away.
Common symptoms of Salmonella infection include:
- Diarrhea
- Stomach cramps
- Nausea or vomiting
- Fever
- Headache
- Loss of appetite
If you experience any of these symptoms after consuming a cucumber product, contact your healthcare provider as soon as possible.
