What is happening?
Since leaving the DOGE, Musk has been very vocal in his criticism of the Big Beautiful Bill – Trumps big law, basically containing everything he promised during the presidential race.
And yesterday, things escalated very quickly.
Tensions rise
During a press meeting with the German chancellor, Friedrich Merz, Trump was asked about his relation to the tech-billionaire:
“I’m very disappointed with Elon, I’ve helped him a lat,” the President started out.
“He had no problem with it”
Trump went on to say that Musk knew the inner workings of the bill “better than anybody sitting here.”
“He had no problem with it. All of a sudden, he hed af problem, and he only developed the problem when he found out we’re going to cut EV mandate.”
“False”
Musk reposted a clip of Trump speaking at the press meeting, stating that what Trump said was “False”.
“This bill was never shown to me even once and was passed in the dead of night so fast that almost no one in Congress could even read it!”
“Elon was wearing thin”
Things really took a turn when Trump took to Truth Social, stating that Elon was “wearing thin”, and that Trump asked him to leave.
“I took away his EV mandate that forced everyone to buy Electric Cars (…) and he just went CRAZY!”
Trump threatens Musk’s contracts
In a new post released the same minute as the previous one, Trump said that:
“The easiest way to save money in our Budget (….) is to erminate Elon’s Government Subsidies and Contracts,” adding that Trump is surprised Biden didn’t do just that.
“Time to drop the really big bomb”
Musk wasn’t having it, and in a post on X, he then said:
“Time to drop the really big bomb: Donald Trump is in the Epstein Files. That is the real reason, they have not been made public.”

The Epstein Files refer to a collection of evidence gathered by incestigators during the investigation of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
While many court documents have been made public — including flight logs for Epstein’s private jet — others remain sealed.
