Barcelona have taken a significant step toward securing one of Spain’s most exciting young talents, as transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that Nico Williams has agreed personal terms on a six-year contract with the Catalan giants.

According to Romano, the 22-year-old winger is set to sign a deal that would keep him at the Spotify Camp Nou until June 2031, with an estimated net salary of €7–8 million per season.

Deal Not Yet Finalized with Athletic Club

While personal terms have been sealed, Barcelona and Athletic Club have yet to agree on the financial details of the transfer. Williams has a release clause in the region of €58 million, which Barça would need to meet, or negotiate around, to complete the signing.

Sources close to the club suggest that Barcelona are exploring ways to structure the payment, including potential add-ons or staggered fees, to comply with La Liga’s financial fair play regulations.

A Star on the Rise

Williams has been a standout performer in La Liga and with the Spanish national team, admired for his explosive pace, dribbling, and versatility on the wing. He played a key role in Athletic Club’s Copa del Rey triumph and has continued to attract interest from top European clubs.

Barcelona, however, now appear to be in pole position to land the young star, who would bolster a wide attack that already includes the likes of Lamine Yamal and Raphinha.

Romano: “Here we go” Imminent?

With personal terms agreed, fans are waiting for Romano’s trademark “Here we go” to signal the deal’s full completion. For now, negotiations between the two clubs remain ongoing, but the player’s intent is clear.

If finalized, the signing of Nico Williams would mark another statement of intent from Barcelona as they look to reclaim domestic and European dominance under new manager Hansi Flick.
