As Arsenal prepare for another Premier League title charge under Mikel Arteta, the North London club remains heavily active in the summer transfer market. While Benjamin Sesko appears close to joining, new names continue to emerge, including Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers, as the Gunners keep their options open across multiple positions.

Morgan Rogers on Arsenal’s Radar

Arsenal are now reportedly monitoring Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers, with the Midlands club facing mounting financial pressure due to the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR). According to Football Transfers, the Gunners are weighing up a potential £50 million bid for the 22-year-old winger.

Rogers impressed in the second half of last season following his January move from Middlesbrough and could represent a versatile option for Arteta across the front line. Villa, meanwhile, are said to be considering drastic measures, including the sale of naming rights to Villa Park, to remain compliant with PSR. The club is also reportedly lining up Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze in anticipation of possible player exits.

Another Twist in the Viktor Gyökeres Saga

While interest in Sesko continues, Arsenal have not ruled out other striking options, with Viktor Gyökeres of Sporting CP still very much in the conversation. However, the Gyökeres saga has taken a fresh twist.

Earlier reports suggested that the striker’s agent, Hasan Cetinkaya, had secured a gentleman’s agreement allowing his client to leave for around £60 million, significantly below his £85 million release clause. This supposed agreement was believed to be formalized via a signed letter.

Yet, Portuguese media now dispute that claim. Reports suggest no such letter exists, casting doubt over the credibility of the agent’s statements. Adding to the uncertainty, former Sporting defender Marco Caneira has hinted at possible motives behind the agent’s urgency, claiming:

The agent’s main problem is the contract he has with the player, which is coming to an end.

The confusion threatens to stall negotiations, while also placing further emphasis on Arsenal’s continued pursuit of Benjamin Sesko, who has reportedly asked for a release clause in any contract agreed with the Gunners.

Keeping Options Open: Arteta’s Tactical Flexibility

While Arsenal’s primary goal is to secure a new striker, the club is also clearly exploring options on the wings and in attacking midfield. Morgan Rogers represents a youthful, dynamic profile that suits Arteta’s fluid system, a possible complement rather than a replacement for any marquee forward addition.

With Andrea Berta now steering Arsenal’s recruitment strategy and financial maneuvering becoming increasingly complex across the Premier League, the Gunners are working proactively to finalize deals before pre-season begins.
