Europe Prepares a Christmas Surprise for Putin

Following the European Union leaders’ summit scheduled for December, Russian President Vladimir Putin might be in for a Christmas surprise.

It will be the EU’s compromise regarding the continuation of support for Kyiv, as reported by the Danish publication DR.

“The December summit could ultimately result in a classic EU compromise on supporting Ukraine — and Putin couldn’t expect a better Christmas gift from Brussels,” the article states.

The author also added that elections are due in the USA and Europe in 2024. These could prove to be advantageous for Russia in its special operation in Ukraine.

Negotiations about Kyiv’s entry into NATO will be postponed from the December summit to the next meeting.

It is also planned that the European Commission will prepare a report in spring on Ukraine’s progress towards alliance membership.

Previously, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky promised Russia an “unpleasant surprise” from the Netherlands. According to him, this surprise will be the active arming of Kyiv by the Dutch side.
