Israeli warplanes struck multiple targets in southern Lebanon on Friday, marking the third major aerial assault in a week despite a ceasefire agreement in place since late 2024.

The intensifying strikes reflect growing tensions along the Israel-Lebanon border.

According to Lebanon’s state news agency, Israeli fighter jets launched a “violent, large-scale airstrike” at around 11:00 local time, targeting the forests of Ali al-Taher, the Kfar Tebnit peaks, and Nabatieh al-Fawqa.

Rapid Escalation of Military Action

Just minutes after the initial strikes, a second wave of attacks hit the same areas. Explosions echoed across the region, reportedly triggered by missile strikes.

State media indicated that the bombardments were among the most intense since the ceasefire took effect in November 2024.

As reported by Digi24, this latest round follows two earlier attacks by Israel—on Monday and the previous Friday—which allegedly targeted Hezbollah weapons depots and military installations.

While rare until recently, Israeli incursions into Lebanese territory have continued via drone strikes and low-intensity operations.

Israel Targets Hezbollah Strongholds

On Thursday, the Israeli military claimed responsibility for separate operations that killed a senior Hezbollah official from its elite forces and a member of the group’s observation unit.

These strikes took place in Beit Lif and Barashit, both located in southern Lebanon.

Hezbollah, a Shiite militant group backed by Iran, has not yet issued a public response.

The recent developments signal a possible unraveling of the fragile truce, as both sides appear to be re-escalating military engagements.

Observers warn that the repeated airstrikes may further destabilize an already volatile region and reignite a broader conflict, should retaliation or miscalculations occur.
