U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that Israel has agreed to the “necessary conditions” for a 60-day ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, according to a report from the BBC.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote, “We will work with all sides to end the war,” but did not specify the exact terms of the agreement.
He added that Qatar and Egypt, both key mediators, would present the final proposal to the parties involved.
“I hope that Hamas will accept this deal, because things will not get better — they will ONLY get worse,” Trump emphasized.

Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations, Danny Danon, said that Israel was “absolutely” ready for a ceasefire.
But it remains unclear whether Hamas will accept the proposed terms.
Trump’s statement comes ahead of a scheduled meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu next week, during which the former president said he would be “very firm.”
“He [Netanyahu] wants to [end the conflict], I can tell you he wants to,” Trump told reporters. “I think we’ll make a deal next week.”
Hostage Crisis and Ceasefire Talks
Approximately 50 Israeli hostages remain in Gaza, at least 20 of whom are believed to be alive.
A senior Hamas official told the BBC last week that efforts to negotiate a new ceasefire and hostage release deal had intensified—but talks remained deadlocked.
Israel maintains that the war will not end until Hamas is dismantled entirely. Conversely, Hamas has long demanded a permanent ceasefire and a complete Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip.
Escalation on the Ground
Trump’s remarks came shortly after Israel ordered evacuations in northern Gaza in preparation for an expected escalation in military operations.
On Monday, at least 20 Palestinians were killed in an Israeli airstrike on a beach café in Gaza, according to medics and eyewitnesses.
The conflict began after Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, killing around 1,200 people.
Since then, at least 56,647 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza, according to the Hamas-run Health Ministry.
