A popular sweet pastry sold at Sainsbury’s, Asda, Morrisons, Co-op, and Tesco has been urgently recalled after it was found to contain undeclared hazelnuts, prompting a “do not eat” warning from the Food Standards Agency (FSA).

The affected product is Woodstock Foods’ Vanilla Crème Crowns (12x50g unbaked frozen packs).

The recalled batch has a best-before date of January 2026 and carries the batch number 224934.

Allergen not listed on label

According to the FSA, the recall was issued because hazelnuts were not declared on the ingredients list, despite being present in the product.

Woodstock Foods confirmed the crowns are topped with hazelnuts and that this key allergen was accidentally omitted from the packaging.

“Anyone with a hazelnut allergy should not eat this product,” the FSA warned. “Return it to the store where it was purchased for a full refund.”

Customers do not need a receipt to obtain their refund.

Notices displayed in supermarkets

According to Express, notices about the recall should now be visible at all affected supermarket locations, explaining the issue and advising customers what action to take.

Woodstock Foods has also been advised to contact allergy support groups to spread the warning more widely.

The recall applies to retailers in England and Wales.

If you believe you’ve purchased the affected batch, check the packaging for the January 2026 best before date and batch number 224934, and avoid consuming the product.
