Plans to cut 50-day deadline

On July 14th, Donald Trump announced a 50-day deadline for Russia to reach a ceasefire deal with Ukraine.

Two weeks later, nothing has changed, and Trump is now concidering reducing the 50-day deadline, he told reporters.

Thought “we had that settled”

“We thought we had that settled numerous times, and then President Putin goes out and starts launching rockets into some city like Kyiv and kills a lot of people in a nursing home or whatever,” Trump said.

Reduced deadline, but by how much?

Trump did not specify when he would announce the shortened deadline, and he did not say how much shorter it would be.

“Already know the answer”

Trump added:

“So we’re going to have to look, and I’m going to reduce that 50 days that I gave him to a lesser number because I think I already know the answer — what’s going to happen.”

Trump did not elaborate on what he meant.

The threats against Russia

During the announcement of the 50-day deadline, Trump said that Russia would be facing 100 % tariffs, if a deal was not made in the war.

He added, that the US would also consider 100 % tariffs on countries buying Russian oil.

These countries include China and India.
