Citroen has widened its urgent “stop-drive” recall, warning owners of certain models not to use their vehicles due to a potentially deadly airbag fault.
Tragedy Behind the Recall

The recall follows the death of a woman in France last year, linked to a faulty airbag in a 2014 Citroen C3. The incident prompted Citroen to investigate and act.
Initial Recall Scope

Earlier this year, Citroen recalled C3 models built between 2009 and 2016, along with DS3s produced from 2016 to 2019, after concerns were raised about airbag safety.
Expansion to More Models

The recall has now been extended to include C4s manufactured in 2010–2011, DS4s from 2010–2011, and DS5s from 2010–2013. This adds nearly 10,000 vehicles in the UK alone.
Total Impact So Far

Across Europe, more than 66,000 vehicles have already received replacement airbags. Citroen expects the majority of affected cars to be fixed by the end of September.

How to Check Your Car

Citroen is urging owners to enter their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the brand’s website to confirm whether their car is affected.
Stellantis Responds

Citroen’s parent company Stellantis says it is acting “proactively” by expanding the recall, stressing that customer safety is the top priority and urging swift action from owners.
A Serious Safety Warning

With nearly 10,000 more cars now included in the UK recall, Citroen is clear: if your vehicle is on the list, don’t drive it until it has been repaired. Safety must come first.
