The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has issued a major recall affecting nearly 1.4 million Oster French Door Countertop Ovens sold across the United States and Canada.

The recall comes after numerous reports of burn injuries caused by malfunctioning oven doors.

Scope of the Recall

Approximately 1,394,195 ovens are affected, including models:

  • TSSTTVFDXL
  • TSSTTVFDDG
  • TSSTTVFDMAF
  • TSSTTVFDDGDS
  • TSSTTVFDDAF-033
  • TSSTTVFDXLPP-033
  • TSSTTVFDDAF.

Model numbers can be found on the back label of each unit. These countertop ovens, which often double as air fryers, were sold both in physical stores and online.

Reason for Recall

The ovens’ French doors have reportedly closed unexpectedly, resulting in burn injuries.

There have been 95 reported incidents, some of which led to second-degree burns.

The CPSC warns that the door mechanism can pose a serious safety risk, particularly when users are handling hot food.

Retailers and Purchase Period

The affected ovens were sold at major retailers including Costco, Walmart, Bed Bath & Beyond, and online platforms such as Amazon.com and Overstock.com.

Sales spanned August 2015 through July 2025, meaning some consumers may have used these ovens for years without realizing the potential hazard.

Safety Advice for Consumers

Consumers are urged to immediately check the model number of their countertop ovens.

If the oven matches any of the recalled models, it should not be used until it has been repaired.

Users who experience pain, blistering, or burns from the oven door should seek medical attention immediately.

How to Obtain a Repair Kit

Oster is providing a free repair kit for affected ovens.

At this time, the company is not offering refunds or full replacements, so users must request the kit to ensure their oven is safe.

Extended Safety Tips for Countertop Oven Use

Even after repairs, users should handle ovens with caution.

Avoid leaning over open doors, use oven mitts, and keep children away from hot appliances. Regularly inspect your oven for signs of wear or damage to hinges, handles, and door mechanisms.

Online Purchases and Second-Hand Ovens

Consumers who purchased ovens online or received them as gifts should verify the model numbers carefully. Second-hand ovens may also be affected if they fall within the recalled models and purchase period.
