A 16-year-old student was fatally shot after bumping into a classmate in a Florida high school hallway, authorities said, and a 15-year-old has been arrested and will be prosecuted as an adult.
Orange County deputies identified the victim as Pinien Dalmacy, 16. Officials said the shooting occurred Oct. 9 at Oak Ridge High School in Sky Lake, a suburb of Orlando.
The suspect, Jacori Redding, 15, was arrested and charged with manslaughter with a firearm and possession of a firearm on school property, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said in a social media post.
“Bumped into each other”
Sheriff John Mina said investigators believe the two students “bumped into each other” in a hallway and argued.
According to the sheriff’s account, Dalmacy asked Redding to apologize; when he refused, the classmates agreed to fight after school at a nearby park.

Deputies say Redding then shot Dalmacy and returned to the school.
A school resource officer learned of the shooting over the radio, and the campus was placed on lockdown, Mina said at a news conference Oct. 10.
Redding was found inside the school cafeteria and was allegedly carrying a firearm in his backpack. It remains unclear where the weapon was obtained. Mina noted Redding was on trial for grand theft auto at the time of the shooting.
Dalmacy’s mother described her son as “full of light, always smiling, always dancing, and loved by everyone who knew him,” according to a GoFundMe campaign set up after his death.
Redding is scheduled to appear in court Nov. 12. Prosecutors have said they will try him as an adult. Authorities asked anyone with information about the case to contact the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
