Costco has issued a major recall on 941,400 bottles of Kirkland Signature Prosecco Valdobbiadene, citing the risk of spontaneous bottle explosions.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) warns that the bottles can shatter without being opened, handled, or moved, posing a serious laceration hazard.

The recalled product includes 750-milliliter bottles sold between April 25 and August 26, 2025 at Costco stores in Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Nebraska, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

How to identify the recalled wine

Consumers should check for:

  • UPC: 196633883742
  • Costco Item Number: 1879870

Costco urges members to dispose of the wine immediately. Do not attempt to open or use the bottle.
