Tesla has seen two more senior executives depart in quick succession, raising fresh questions about leadership stability as the automaker pivots toward artificial intelligence and robotaxi projects.
Double exit at the top
According to a Reuters report, Tesla has lost two more senior executives, as Emmanuel Lamacchia, the program manager for Tesla’s best-selling Model Y, announced on Sunday that he is leaving the company after nearly eight years. His departure came just hours after Siddhant Awasthi, head of the Cybertruck program, also confirmed his exit.
Both executives played key roles in Tesla’s product development. Lamacchia joined in 2018 and led the rollout of the Model Y across multiple factories worldwide. Awasthi, who began as a Tesla intern eight years ago, helped bring the stainless-steel Cybertruck to production and had recently taken over responsibility for the Model 3 program.
“What a journey it’s been… from leading NPI for Model 3 and Model Y variants to becoming the Vehicle Program Manager for Model Y, the best-selling car in the world,” Lamacchia wrote in a LinkedIn post.
Pattern of departures
Their exits continue a wave of high-profile departures from Tesla’s engineering and vehicle programs. Over the past year, the company has lost several senior figures, including Daniel Ho, who led the Model 3 launch, and David Zhang, who managed the Model S and X lines.

The turnover comes as Tesla shifts its focus toward autonomous driving and next-generation platforms such as robotaxis. Analysts say the move reflects both strategic changes and internal strain following years of rapid expansion.
Market pressures ahead
Tesla reported record deliveries in the third quarter, boosted by U.S. consumers rushing to secure a $7,500 federal tax credit before its September expiration. Analysts, however, expect a sharp slowdown in the fourth quarter as the incentive ends and competition intensifies in the electric vehicle market.
The company has not commented on the latest departures as of the writing of this article.
