Sadie Sink is finally breaking her silence about her role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day after being spotted on the set of Marvel’s upcoming blockbuster.
Rumors have been swirling ever since the Stranger Things star was cast in the next Spider-Man film starring Tom Holland.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Sink addressed—for the first time—the many speculations about her character in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
“Tom can wave to the fans because everyone knows who he is, but when people see me, I look like a penguin. That’s probably how it’ll be for a while,” she said.
Not Jean Grey – and maybe not Gwen Stacy either?
Many fans have speculated that Sadie Sink could be the new Jean Grey in the MCU. But Sink made it clear that this rumor began long before she herself knew she would even be appearing in the film.
“It started before I even knew I’d be working on the project,” she said. “I was just thinking, ‘What are people talking about?’”
Another rumor mentions Rachel Cole-Alves, a character from the comics who teams up with The Punisher.
“People forget that hair color can change, but I totally understand all the theories.”
Keeping her cards close to her chest
Sink wouldn’t reveal anything concrete but added: “People will just have to wait and see. I’m excited that everything might soon be revealed.”
The film crew behind Spider-Man: Brand New Day has now been shooting for several months. Besides Jean Grey and Rachel Cole-Alves, there have also been rumors that Sink could be playing Gwen Stacy in the MCU.
Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios have yet to confirm which character she is playing.
The plot of Spider-Man: Brand New Day remains tightly under wraps. The film marks the end of Phase 6 in the Marvel universe and will be the final MCU movie before Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.
