Benedict Cumberbatch is suiting up for battle, the legendary actor is officially joining World of Tanks for Holiday Ops 2026
A familiar face from film and television is joining one of gaming’s biggest winter events.
World of Tanks has confirmed that Benedict Cumberbatch will headline its upcoming Holiday Ops 2026 festival.
The British actor’s digital counterpart will guide players through the seasonal hub, offering tasks, rewards and festive interactions throughout the event.
Festive mission hub
Cumberbatch’s in-game role centers on the Holiday Ops Headquarters, where fans can take on special Assignments tied directly to his character.
According to the game’s developers, these challenges allow players to spend resources such as Warm Amber and Meteoric Iron to unlock cosmetic upgrades, inscriptions and unique 2D styles marked with special insignia.
Progress in these missions also contributes to increased credit and XP bonuses in Random Battles for vehicles up to Tier XI, giving the event both visual and gameplay incentives.
Celebrity collaboration
The actor expressed enthusiasm for the partnership in a statement released by the studio. “I’m thrilled to be part of World of Tanks’ Holiday Ops this year,” Cumberbatch said. “It’s a game that celebrates strategy, teamwork, and thinking a few steps ahead.
I really enjoyed collaborating with the team and bringing a new flavor to that world along with a bit of festive spirit. Wishing all the players a fantastic holiday season.”
Developers say his presence adds a new narrative flavor to the annual event, which has featured celebrity guests in previous years.
Seasonal extras return
Holiday Ops 2026 will run from December 5, 2025, to January 12, 2026. Beyond Cumberbatch’s missions, the studio outlines 28 days of challenges, a ten-level Festive Atmosphere progression track, and the comeback of Chaffee the Dog as a permanent Garage companion for those who finish the complete Challenge.
Players can also explore upgraded Festive Villages, now switchable between day and night, while unlocking decorations, economy bonuses and a mix of 2D and 3D vehicle skins. Full reward details are available on the official World of Tanks website.
