Prince Harry’s latest US talk-show appearance has reopened debate over his relationship with the monarchy and his growing media presence.

The Duke of Sussex used his guest spot on The Late Show to make a remark that immediately set social media buzzing.

His comments touched on one of the most sensitive pop-culture flashpoints for the Royal Family.

Netflix revelation

According to The Express, Harry confirmed to host Stephen Colbert that he watches The Crown, the Netflix drama long criticised by royal insiders for its depictions of private family events.

The Prince and Princess of Wales are reported to avoid the series entirely, viewing it as historically unreliable.

When Colbert asked whether he had seen the show, Harry paused as the audience laughed, then admitted: “There’s people laughing at that – yes, I have actually watched The Crown.”

He later added that he had viewed “the older stuff and the more recent stuff.”

Colbert jokingly pressed him on whether he “fact-checks” scenes, prompting Harry to mime taking notes before responding: “Yes, I do actually.”

History and memoir

The exchange led Harry to reference his memoir Spare, stressing the importance of accuracy when recounting events. Gesturing toward the copy in Colbert’s hands, he reiterated: “Yes, I do actually. Which, by the way, is another reason why it’s so important that history has it right.”

Harry also addressed the press coverage surrounding the book’s publication, noting that excerpts were circulated before its release.

Despite that, he told Colbert he had no regrets. Sharing his perspective, he said, mattered more than whether the press approved, notes the Express.

Broader implications

Harry’s candid approach is familiar by now, yet each new interview revives tensions with his royal relatives, who reportedly remain uneasy about his public disclosures.

His remarks about The Crown are likely to add fresh fuel to an already delicate dynamic.
