Prince Harry surprised The Late Show by interrupting Stephen Colbert’s holiday-movie monologue, jokingly auditioning for a Hallmark-style Christmas role.

The Duke of Sussex surprised Stephen Colbert during a segment poking fun at made-for-TV holiday romances — and offered himself up for a starring role.
The unscripted entrance set the tone for a playful back-and-forth that delighted the studio audience.
Holiday spoof
As People reported, Colbert began by joking that Christmas movies promise “unrealistic expectations” about meeting royalty on American streets.
Just then, Harry walked onstage, announcing he believed he was showing up to audition for The Gingerbread Prince Saves Christmas in Nebraska.
The prince, 41, asked what it would take for “a real prince” to get cast in a Hallmark production.
Colbert teased that show business often relies on connections and asked whether Harry knew any famous TV actresses. “I might know one,” Harry replied, nodding to Meghan Markle, before joking that he was willing to “do anything,” including recording a self-tape or flying himself to auditions.
Colbert denied doing any of the “TV things” Harry listed, prompting Harry to quip, “Maybe that’s why you’re canceled.”
Comedic chemistry
The sketch escalated into full holiday parody as fake snow began to fall and the two leaned toward a near-kiss while embracing dramatically.
Eventually, Colbert removed his glasses and declared Harry the show’s “official Late Show prince of Christmas.”
Ahead of the episode, Colbert teased the prince’s cameo with a social-media video set to a viral Great British Bake Off clip. In the promo,
Harry — seated in the guest chair — mouthed Alison Hammond’s voice asking, “If you were treated like a king for a day, what would you want me to do for you?”
The moment signaled that the evening’s comedy would revolve around Harry’s royal persona, and the broadcast delivered on that promise, notes People.

Harry also appeared in Meghan’s newly released Netflix special, With Love, Meghan: Holiday Celebration.
