The U.S. outpaces both China, Russia and actually every other country in the world when it comes to military spending.
In fact, according to a 2024 report from Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, the U.S. spend nearly $1 Trillion on its military that year with China spending an estimated $314 Billion and Russia an estimted $149 Billion.
But the world record in military spending is not enough, Donald Trump thinks. In fact, he wants to increase the military budget for the U.S. by 50%, he says in a post on his social media, Truth Social.

Cap on pay to excecutives
Trump also says in his post, that he wants a cap on the pay for defence executives, until the companies build “new and modern production plants”.
It is unclear, what the new and modern production plants would entail.
The cap would be $5 Million.
Trump credits tariffs
According to the post from Trump, the increased military budget will be made possible thanks to the income from the tariffs, he imposed in April 2025.
