The secret may finally be slipping out. Jennifer Lawrence appears to be signaling that her involvement in the upcoming Hunger Games prequel, Sunrise on the Reaping, is no longer just rumor.
While nothing has been formally announced by the studio, recent comments from the actress herself have fueled speculation that her return to Panem is closer to reality.
Podcast moment
The hint surfaced during an episode of journalist Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast.
Horowitz brought up Francis Lawrence, who directed every Hunger Games film after the 2012 original and is also directing the prequel.
He suggested that the director and Lawrence should reconnect. “Maybe we already have,” the actress replied, prompting Horowitz to joke, “If you believe everything on the internet.”

Subtle confirmation
Lawrence then acknowledged the online reports directly. “Oh yeah, it is out on the Internet, isn’t it?” she said, referencing recent speculation about her and Josh Hutcherson rejoining the franchise.
When Horowitz asked whether audiences should plan to see the new Hunger Games film, she answered with a smile, “Yes. Yeah.” The exchange has been widely interpreted as her clearest confirmation yet.
Franchise legacy
Lawrence portrayed Katniss Everdeen across four films, concluding with The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 2. Her performance helped anchor the franchise, which became a defining cultural moment of the 2010s.
She later won an Academy Award for Silver Linings Playbook, released the same year as the first Hunger Games movie.
How it fits
Sunrise on the Reaping is set 24 years before the original trilogy, leaving open questions about how Katniss and Peeta could appear. Fans have pointed to the source novel’s present-day epilogue, which features the pair listening as Haymitch Abernathy recounts his own Games.

New cast, old faces
Francis Lawrence returns to direct from a script by Billy Ray. The film stars Joseph Zada as a young Haymitch, with Mckenna Grace, Jesse Plemons, Ralph Fiennes, Kieran Culkin, Elle Fanning, and Maya Hawke also in key roles.
Sunrise on the Reaping is scheduled for theatrical release on November 26.
