Russia addressed the rumors surrounding the 80th anniversary of the Allied landings in Normandy.
Russia has not received an official invitation from France for the 80th anniversary celebrations of the Allied landings in Normandy, according to Dmitry Peskov, the Press Secretary for the Russian President.
This clarification comes amid speculations fueled by a report from Europa-1 radio station, which suggested that France intended to extend an invitation to Russia for the commemorative event on June 6.
“No, there haven’t been any invitations yet,” Peskov stated during a press briefing, as reported by Interfax.
“We don’t know what formed the basis of this message, whether it’s official information or some kind of rumors, or a ‘duck’. But we haven’t received anything official about this.”
