A former television news anchor has been charged with first-degree murder after police say she stabbed her 80-year-old mother to death in Wichita, Kansas, USA.

Sedgwick County police responded at about 7:52 a.m. Friday to a “reported cutting” at a residence, the department said in a media release. This was reported by People.

Officers found 47-year-old Angelynn “Angie” Mock standing outside the home, and discovered her mother, Anita Avers, unresponsive in bed with multiple stab wounds.

Avers was taken to a hospital, where she later died, police said.

Mock was treated at a hospital for undisclosed injuries and then booked into the Sedgwick County Jail.

She was charged with first-degree murder on Oct. 31 and is being held on $1 million bond, according to public records.

The Sedgwick County Police Department said the investigation is ongoing and did not provide comments beyond the initial release.

Mock previously worked as an anchor and reporter for Fox 2 in St. Louis from 2011 to 2015, according to her LinkedIn profile. After leaving journalism she moved into sales and, at the time of her arrest, was employed by a data management software company, the profile shows.

Authorities have not released a motive and court records did not list an initial appearance date as of Sunday.

Police asked anyone with information about the incident to contact the Sedgwick County Police Department.
