Trampoline park closes after deadly go-kart incident

A young girl has died following a go-kart accident at an indoor trampoline and adventure park in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
Police say the 6-year-old was injured Saturday evening at the Urban Air Trampoline and Adventure Park and later died at a hospital.
Authorities have opened a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Emergency response
Police and first responders were called to the park shortly before 9 p.m. for what was initially described as a “medical run.”
Staff reported a go-kart accident involving a child.

The girl was airlifted to a hospital in Fort Pierce, where she died on Sunday, according to the Port St. Lucie Police Department.
Detectives are now reviewing what happened, and the medical examiner’s report is still pending. Police have not released further details about her injuries, citing the active investigation.
Investigation underway
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has been notified “as required,” police said.
Urban Air said in a statement to ABC affiliate WPBF that it is cooperating fully with state and local authorities.
“We are heartbroken by the tragic incident… Our deepest sympathies go out to the child’s family and loved ones,” the company said.

The Port St. Lucie location has closed temporarily “while we focus on supporting the investigation and keeping everyone affected by this terrible tragedy in our thoughts,” the spokesperson said.
The Urban Air facility features trampolines, a go-kart track, bumper cars, a zip line and laser tag.
No timeline has been provided for when the location might reopen.
