Nick Reiner, the son of filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer Reiner, is being questioned by detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Division following the couple’s deaths.

According to the LAPD, no arrests have been made, and no one is currently in custody.
What happened
At about 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 14, the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a call for medical aid at a Los Angeles residence.
Paramedics arrived to find a man and a woman deceased, officials told reporters from People. Multiple outlets have reported the victims were Rob and Michele Reiner.

Sources close to the family told that the couple’s daughter Romy discovered them in the home.
Several individuals close to the family have alleged that Nick was involved, but police have not confirmed any such claims, and investigators have not released details about what led to the Reiners’ deaths.
Family background
Rob Reiner, 77, was a celebrated actor and director known for classics including The Princess Bride (1987), When Harry Met Sally… (1989), Misery (1990) and A Few Good Men (1992).
He met Michele, a photographer, while directing When Harry Met Sally. They married in 1989 and shared three children.
Nick Reiner has previously spoken publicly about his struggles with addiction and periods of homelessness.

In a statement shared with Variety, the Reiner family said:
“It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner. We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time.”

The LAPD has released no further information about the circumstances surrounding the deaths, and autopsy results have not yet been made public.
Authorities say the investigation remains active.
