Three women were found dead in the same Jacksonville neighborhood in Florida within 72 hours, prompting widespread speculation online about a serial killer.

Officials say investigations are ongoing, but evidence so far does not point to a single perpetrator.

Rapid succession of cases

According to reporting from News4Jax, 24-year-old Cherrish Nunley was discovered unresponsive in a parking lot on November 15. She died at the scene, leaving behind two young children. Her family later said she had been shot.

The next day, a fisherman found Tiffany Felton’s body beneath a bridge along Blanding Boulevard. Authorities confirmed her death is being treated as a possible homicide while investigators work to determine what happened.

On November 17, FirstCoastNews reported that another woman was found dead inside a residence. Her name and cause of death have not yet been released by authorities.

Police reject serial-killer claims

The string of deaths triggered a wave of online speculation, with some social-media users insisting a serial killer must be responsible.

On November 18, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office issued a public statement dismissing the theory.

“JSO is aware of rumors circulating about a serial killer on the loose in Jacksonville. We can confirm these claims are FALSE,” the agency wrote on Facebook. Detectives, they said, are “following the facts and evidence in each case” and have found no threat to the wider public.

The sheriff’s office asked anyone with relevant information to contact investigators as the three cases remain active.

Rumors persist online

Despite the clarification, The Independent noted that speculation continued on Facebook, where commenters questioned whether police could rule out a serial killer before solving the cases.

Similar discussions have also spread across Reddit.

Nunley’s sister, Justine Donaldson, created a GoFundMe page describing her sibling as “a bright, beautiful girl… and a wonderful mom.” She wrote that Nunley “was killed in cold blood” and vowed that the family “will fight for justice.”

The fundraiser has collected more than $2,000 for her children and funeral expenses.

The investigations are ongoing. The police say updates will be released when possible, urging the public to rely on verified information rather than speculation.
