The publication of photos by the Spanish weekly magazine Lecturas, showcasing King Frederik spending the night at the home of Mexican model Genoveva Casanova in Madrid, has stirred significant public attention.

The images, released in late 2023, led to widespread speculation regarding the nature of their relationship.

Genoveva Casanova was quick to dispel rumors of a romantic involvement with King Frederik, stating emphatically to the Spanish magazine Hola,

“I categorically deny the claims suggesting a romantic relationship between Crown Prince Frederik and myself.”

The Danish royal household has maintained a stance of not commenting on rumors and insinuations.

Count Cayetano Martínez de Irujo, Casanova's ex-husband and father of their 22-year-old twins, Luis and Amina, has also voiced his opinion. He expressed unconditional support for his ex-wife and emphasized his desire to shield their children from the fallout.

However, in a new interview with Spanish TV host Susanna Griso, covered by Daily Mail, he revealed the considerable distress the incident has caused their children. "The photos have led to a lot of pain for our children, a lot of pain," he disclosed.

Martínez de Irujo also hinted at legal proceedings, indicating that the lawsuit Casanova threatened against Lecturas magazine for not retracting the photos appears to be moving forward. This development suggests an ongoing effort to address the matter legally, underscoring the emotional toll the controversy has taken on the family.
