Nintendo is branching out from its traditional focus on games and gaming consoles with an exciting new venture: transforming the beloved and critically acclaimed game series 'The Legend of Zelda' into a live-action film.

Following the massive success of 'The Super Mario Bros. Movie,' this announcement marks another significant step in Nintendo's broader entertainment strategy.

The film, slated for release in several years, will be a collaborative effort between Nintendo and Sony.

Wes Ball, known for directing the 'Maze Runner' trilogy, is set to helm the project. Renowned game designer Shigeru Miyamoto, who created the Zelda franchise, and producer Avi Arad, known for works like 'Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse' and 'Morbius,' are on board to produce the film, as confirmed by Nintendo in a press release.

This announcement comes in the wake of the 'Super Mario Bros.' movie's extraordinary success, which grossed over a billion dollars, and the release of 'The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom,' which received high praise from game critics globally.

In contrast to the animated Mario movie, the Zelda film will be a live-action production, necessitating the casting of characters like Link, Zelda, Ganon, and others.

This casting process is anticipated to be one of the more intriguing aspects to follow as the project develops.
