Indoor plants may struggle as temperatures rise in spring, with experts warning that continuing winter care routines can lead to overwatering, poor growth, and yellow leaves.

As soon as the warm months approach, many people begin preparing their gardens and balconies for the summer season.

At the same time, more problems with indoor plants may begin to appear. Because many people continue following their winter routines, this can cause issues for plants, as their needs change, reports the Daily Mail.

Angharad James from the plant care brand Baby Bio explains that plants begin reacting more quickly and also respond to the higher temperatures.

Plants Change Their Needs

Because plants almost go dormant during the winter, they can suddenly start growing very quickly once spring arrives.

This rapid growth means that plants need extra nutrients, which is why it is highly beneficial to start fertilizing them in spring, says Angharad James.

If people are not attentive to their plants’ needs, it can instead result in overwatering, poor growth, and yellow leaves, according to the Daily Mail.

Small Mistakes Cause Problems

However, the biggest mistake is overwatering plants. Instead of watering on a fixed schedule, people should check the soil first.

Light is also essential for plants, and any dust on the leaves can make it harder for the plant to absorb sunlight.

Angharad James’ best advice is to heck watering more often, but always allow the top layer of soil to dry out between waterings.

It is also mentioned that it is highly beneficial to move plants closer to natural light so they can take advantage of the longer days and the sun’s rays. However, people should be aware that direct sunlight can be harmful to some plants, reports the Daily Mail.
