In a surprising twist to musical preferences for sleep, a new study has found that pop artist Lana Del Rey tops the list of musicians to fall asleep to. The study, conducted by German bed company Emma – The Sleep Company, analyzed over 150,000 songs and 450 music artists to determine the most sleep-inducing music.
According to a press release from the company, Lana Del Rey's song 'Norman Fucking Rockwell' emerged as the best track to fall asleep to, with her album 'Chemtrails Over The Country Club' being named the most sleep-inducing album – a compliment in this context.
Billie Eilish’s ‘Everybody Dies’ and Harry Styles’ ‘Boyfriends’ secured the second and third spots, respectively, as the most sleep-inducing songs.
The study was based on research from Aarhus University, which identified specific characteristics in music that promote sleep.
These include being less energetic, difficult to dance to, and having a prevalence of acoustic elements. The findings offer a fresh perspective on using contemporary pop music as a tool to enhance sleep quality.
