Aldi shoppers are being urged to check their cupboards after the supermarket issued an urgent recall of a popular chocolate snack that may contain undisclosed peanuts, a potentially life-threatening risk for anyone with an allergy.
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) announced the recall of Dairyfine Crispy Choc Um’s (121g), warning that all packets — regardless of date codes — may be contaminated.
Undeclared peanuts
According to the FSA, peanuts were not listed on the label, meaning anyone with an allergy could unknowingly consume them.
Aldi has advised customers not to eat the product and to return it to any of its stores for a full refund.
“As a precautionary measure, Aldi is recalling Dairyfine Crispy Choc Um’s because the product may contain peanuts,” the FSA said. “If you have bought the above product and have an allergy to peanuts do not eat it.”
