Bed bugs are tiny insects that feed on the blood of mammals, including humans, similar to mosquitoes or ticks.

They thrive in warm and humid places, making your mattress the perfect breeding ground. After feeding, they don't stay on the body but hide and wait to attack again the next day.

Besides your mattress, these pests also hide in sofas, carpets, rugs, cabinets, clothes, or luggage, allowing them to move to other locations. Bites from a bed bug are usually not felt immediately but become apparent after some time, typically as small red bumps. While annoying, they are not harmful to your health. Nonetheless, living with such a nuisance is undesirable. Here are natural tricks to eliminate them:

With Vinegar and Baking Soda

  • Ingredients: You likely have vinegar and baking soda in your kitchen, making them the first recommendation for eradicating bed bugs from the bedroom.

  • Method: Mix a small spoonful of baking soda in a container with vinegar. Use a spray bottle to apply the mixture to areas where the insects may reside. Repeat several times a day, as vinegar evaporates quickly. This mixture is harmful to the pests.

With Peppermint Oil

  • Solution: Peppermint oil also serves as a homemade remedy against these tiny insects, as they find its smell very bothersome.

  • Application: Spread a few drops on the mattress, and you should see results within a few days.

With Cloves

  • Recommendation: Finally, using cloves is the third suggestion. Similar to mint, cloves emit a strong aroma that repels many insects, including bed bugs.

  • Usage: You can either spray a mixture made with cloves or achieve results by placing cloves directly on the mattress.

By employing these natural, easy-to-find ingredients, you can protect your home from the discomfort and annoyance of bed bugs, ensuring a peaceful and pest-free environment.
