Why You Should Put Sponges on Your Radiator in the Winter Months.

Trending Now

December just screams for cozy scents and warmth, so wouldn't it be genius if you could combine the two?

There's actually a genius trick for that, and all you need is a cleaning sponge and a little bit of scented oil.

You'll also need a turned-on radiator, but with the temperatures we're plagued with here in Denmark in December, it will probably be turned on in most homes anyway.

So let's take a look at the trick!

How to do it

The trick is to first take a scouring sponge and remove the rough side of the sponge.

Then, you cut the now-soft sponge into smaller pieces and place them in a bowl.

Pour some water over the stumps so they can absorb some liquid - and from here, there are two different things you can do:

Oil

Take each individual sponge stump and squeeze the water out of it, so it is only damp.

Then, drip a few drops of scented oil onto the individual sponge pieces, and then place them on top of the hot radiator.

As the moisture evaporates from the sponge stumps, the scent from the oil will spread throughout the room and give the coziest and most relaxing scent you can imagine.

Dishwashing liquid

If you don't have any essential oils on hand, you can instead use dishwashing liquid.

Here, however, you need to mix the product in the water while the sponges are soaking up liquid. Stir everything well, and then the sponges are actually ready when you have squeezed out the worst of the liquid.

The smart thing about the last method here is that you can store the mixture of sponges, water, and dishwashing liquid by placing a lid on the bowl you mixed it in, and in that way, you can take a sponge stump at a time and use it.
