British security officials have reportedly uncovered a list of nine UK cities marked as potential targets for Russian strategic bomber strikes, according to a report first published by The Express.

The outlet said intelligence sources believe the plan, attributed to Vladimir Putin’s military command, includes not only civilian areas but also key British air defense bases.

The intelligence was reportedly obtained from a Russian agent in Eastern Europe and passed to British authorities, raising serious concerns about Moscow’s long-term military intentions.

Targets across Britain

According to The Express, the leaked information names the British towns of Aldershot, Colchester, Portsmouth, Chatham in Kent, Tidworth, and Salisbury in Wiltshire among the intended strike zones.

Only one of these areas is directly connected to active military infrastructure.

The same intelligence outlines the Russian airfields expected to launch the bombers and the estimated number of aircraft required for each mission.

A Whitehall source quoted by The Express suggested the list might serve as a diversion tactic aimed at confusing UK defense planners before a real assault.

The source told reporters: “A Russian air attack on British territory would be a declaration of war on both Britain and NATO.”

Nuclear plans detailed

Documents allegedly show that President Putin has approved an order for 56 Kalibr cruise missiles fitted with nuclear warheads, to be produced between 2024 and 2026.

These are among Russia’s most advanced long-range weapons systems.

In addition to the Kalibr, Russia’s arsenal includes the 9M723 Iskander-M ballistic missile — a more complex and expensive weapon with a shorter range but higher precision.

Intelligence analysts believe the Kremlin intends to complete its campaign in Ukraine before escalating tensions with Western nations.

Growing military tension

The latest revelation follows a pattern of Russian aerial provocations near UK airspace dating back two decades.

Since 2005, Moscow has frequently dispatched long-range bombers and reconnaissance aircraft to probe British defenses.

In 2007, RAF Typhoon jets were scrambled 19 times to intercept Russian planes. That figure fell to 11 in 2020 and to six in 2023, coinciding with the ongoing war in Ukraine.
