Just days after Pope Leo XIV’s election, his older brother, Louis Prevost, has become the subject of scrutiny for a series of inflammatory posts on Facebook.

The posts targets trans people, Democratic politicians, and supporters of President Joe Biden.

Posts Target Trans Children, Women, and Democrats

On his public Facebook page, Louis Prevost has shared content calling parents of transgender children “sh- -ty,” mocking female politicians like Nancy Pelosi, and accusing Democrats of being traitors.

His rhetoric includes calls for the arrest and trial of “anti-Trump Democrats” for treason.

Years of Posts, Newfound Public Attention

Though the tone of Prevost’s posts long predates his brother’s papacy, public and media interest in him exploded once Robert Francis Prevost was elected Pope Leo XIV.

The Florida-Based MAGA Supporter Behind the Keyboard

A 73-year-old retiree living on Florida’s Gulf Coast, Louis Prevost openly embraces his support for Donald Trump and right-wing causes.

In interviews, he has acknowledged the sudden spotlight and complained about being labeled “a MAGA guy.”

Unity from the Pope, Division from His Brother

While Louis rails online, Pope Leo XIV has emphasized peace, reconciliation, and bridge-building.

Just days ago, he urged journalists to reject “the war of words and images” and called on people to unite across divides.

Newsmax, Baseball, and the “Famous Brother” Effect

In an interview with the Chicago Sun-Times, Prevost seemed both amused and overwhelmed by the attention, noting that he’d already appeared on Newsmax.

“Now it’s all over Newsmax TV: Pope’s brother watches Newsmax,” he said. “They have it on the little ticker.”

No Comment After Deletions

As Facebook began flagging and removing his posts, Prevost declined further comment on specific content he had shared.

Earlier, he had told reporters he was trying to accommodate media interest to avoid casting a shadow on his brother’s global religious role.

Who Would Want That Job?

Prevost said that while his brother had joked about never wanting to be pope, he accepted the role as a divine calling.

“If I get elected, I can’t turn my back on it, because that’s God’s wish,” Louis recalled his brother saying. “And that’s what happened.”
