1 dead and 46 injured in terrible Flixbus accident
A tragic Flixbus accident occurred in Kärnten, Austria, resulting in the death of a 19-year-old Austrian woman and leaving around 20 people injured.
The bus was en route from Berlin to Trieste, Italy, when it veered off the road, crashed into a guardrail, and tipped over.
Among the injured was a 25-year-old German woman who was taken to the hospital with severe injuries.
The bus was carrying 40 passengers from various countries, including Austria, Slovenia, Italy, Germany, and Ukraine.
Emergency services were alerted by a driver of a vehicle following the bus. The injured were extracted from the bus using hydraulic equipment and ladders.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation, but initial alcohol tests on the drivers came back negative.
There is speculation that the accident may have been caused by the driver falling asleep at the wheel. The injured were taken to hospitals in Friesach and Klagenfurt.
